Fatima Jinnah Women’s University or FJWU is a public university near Rawalpindi Mall Road, Punjab, Pakistan. So as the first women’s university in Pakistan, it ranked 18th in the general category of the Pakistan Higher Education Commission. The main building is Victorian, built as a residence by Sikh brothers Mohan and Sohan Singh. So it became the Presidency of Pakistan around the mid-1960s. Therefore the rooms steeped in history; personalities like Benazir Bhutto, Ch. Fazal Elahi and President Habibullah Khan Marwat, and President Zia-ul-Haq have walked the corridors. So Former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif inaugurated it as a gift for the nation’s daughters and their families on 6 August 1998. Therefore the university is unique in the fact that the Punjab Government funds it.
